Mike Billing

Founder, Captura Marketing

Mike is an experienced sports business professional having worked in a diverse range of roles both in Australia and internationally for the past 17 years.  A results-driven strategic marketing and sports management executive who has managed projects such as developing the first government relationship with facebook in the UK to delivering Australia’s first fully integrated loyalty and rewards program for a national sports team.  Mike has proven himself to be able to deliver the most challenging and innovative projects with limited resources. At the end of 2015 Mike was voted at number 13 in Chief Marketing Officer Magazine’s Top 50 CMO’s in Australia. 

Working across the Health Club sector, to state sporting associations, major international events, government bodies and professional sports teams, Mike has a wide knowledge of what makes sporting organisations successful.  Most recently Mike served as the marketing director for Melbourne Storm where he was responsible for the membership, marketing, events, digital and media teams. Mike and his team recently launched Lightning Rewards, Australia’s first fully integrated rewards program which engages fans throughout their supporter journey using world leading technology solutions. Also in Mike’s tenure, Melbourne Storm were rated as the NRL’s number 1 game day experience and saw record crowds achieved, have grown the second largest facebook audience in Australia across any professional sports team and have achieved record membership levels year on year.  Mike’s has constantly strived to bring an innovative approach to their fan engagement strategies to deliver these results. These diverse experiences have led Mike to recently set up Captura Marketing.  Captura is focused on delivering data driven marketing solutions to SMEs, loyalty and membership strategy as well as digital marketing and communications support
